Get Well Wishes #638 Freshly Made Sketches Challenge

Narell and the design team at Freshly Made Sketches have posted another beautiful sketch.  I liked the clean and simple design of the sketch, so I decided to use it for a get well card I was planning on making.  Here's this week's sketch:

You can click here to visit FMS

HERE IS MY CARD:

I pulled a stamp set from my collection called Cheerful Basket to use as the focal point for my card.  Here is my version of the sketch:

SUPPLIES USED:

Stamps, Dies and Embossing Folders:

  • Cheerful Basket #158674R Stampin' Up!
  • Sincere Salutations  Salutations (R) Stampin' Up!
  • Sending Dies for the sentiment strip #159271
  • Layering Squares Dies #14708(R)
  • Cross Hatch from the Online Exclusives Embossing Folder set
Cardstock and Paper:
  • Whisper White 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" for base scored at 4 1/4"
  • Whisper White Mats for front and inside.  Front mat 5" x 3 3/4" and Inside  5" x 3 3/4"
  • Sweet Sorbet for mats on the front and inside cut 2 at 5 1/4" x 4" 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" square for DSP mat.
  • Scrap of Granny Apple green for sentiment mat
  • DSP scrap Incolor 2022-2024 Sweet Sorbet plaid design cut out with 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" scalloped square die.
Ink:
  • Momento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp images and for sentiments
  • Stampin' Blends:
    • Apples - Sweet Sorbet, Real Read, Petal Pink, Dark Cherry Cobbler, Granny Apple Green for leaves
    • Kitten - Granite Grey light and dard, White Color Lifter, Smokey Slate and Petal Pink.
    • Basket - Crumb Cake L&D, Pecan Pie (L&D) Early Espresso (D)

Sincere Salutations was one of the first stamp sets I bought from Stampin' Up! back in 2006 when I joined, and although it's retired I'm still using it to this day.

Cheerful Baskets #158674R
I covered the surface of the apples once they were coloured with blends, with a glazing product called Nuvo Drops.  This makes the surface shine and look like  real little apples.  What fun!

When I'm working on a sketch I like to make notes of the supplies used and samples of what was stamped or cut out.  It really helps me remember how the card went together.

I didn't take a picture of the inside of the card, but quite simply, I matted a piece of Whisper White onto a base of Sweet Sorbet and adhered this to the card base.  I stamped "Get Well" from the Sincere Salutations stamp set
in Momento Tuxedo Black ink .

Thanks for dropping by.  Leave me a comment if you like this card or if you have any questions about how it was made.  Cheers!

June 2024 Hostess Code

Welcome to my site and Happy June everyone!

Here is my new Hostess Code

for the month of June:

Every papercrafter needs stuff, but not everyone can afford to place orders over $200 or host workshops to accumulate sales, so offering my monthly hostess code for smaller orders, is my way of saying "thanks for supporting my business".

If you're planning on placing a June order valued from $60 to $199.00 (before shipping and tax) just add my June Hostess Code #TV6MSNDX at the end of your order to receive a small token of my appreciation and a thank you card.

The benefits of shopping at my online store and adding my monthly Hostess Code are:
  • You never have to go to a workshop or party.
  • If you need help with your product choices I'm always here to help.
  • You get to decide when to place your order and my online store is available 24/7.
  • Your new products are shipped directly to your front door and generally arrive within 5-7 days of placing your online order.
After you've placed your order and applied the current hostess code you'll receive a free surprise gift from me and thank you card generally within 2-3 weeks.

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS

My June Hostess Code/free gift offer is only available for orders placed on-line and you must add the hostess code before the order is finalized. If you don't already have an online account with me, you'll need to set up an account. It's fast and easy. Once you've got your account set up you simply type in the monthly hostess code at checkout to any qualifying order valued from $60 to $199.00 (before shipping, tax and handling).

Before you finalize your order at checkout you must add my hostess code for the month to the circled area in the above snapshot. Check and make sure that it's the right code, because I can't add the code for you, once the order is placed. If the code isn't on your order it won't qualify for my free gift although you'll still receive a thank you card from me.

If your order totals more than $200, no worries, you'll automatically receive Stampin' Rewards at the checkout based on your order total and will be prompted to enter products adding up to the qualifying amount before you proceed to checkout.

NOTE: My June Hostess Code promo closes at noon on June 30th, 2024. Your free gift and thank you card will be sent to you by the 3rd week in July.

HAPPY STAMPING

Taco Fiesta with FMS#637

I was inspired by the little squares on this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge to design a card using my Taco Fiesta stamp set.  What fun!  This stamp set has a such a cute assortment of toppings and fun sentiments it was easy to fill the squares and come up with a card that made me smile.

Here's the Sketch:

Card Sketch by Karren Card Sketch by Karren

Here's My Card:

I have to confess I really goofed up when I was making this card front.  Somehow I managed to flip the layers when I was adhering the stack to the card base, and wound up with the squares on the left rather than the right side of the card. OOPs!  Since the design on the Day at the Farm DSP was multi-directional, it didn't really make a difference, so I left things as is.

I had so much fun stamping and colouring these images.  You can't really see because of the camera angle but I wanted all the red bits to be shiny so I topped them with a layer of Nuvo drops to bring on the shine.

SUPPLIES USED:

Stamp Set:
Taco Fiesta #160732 - Stampin' Up! (R)
Inside sentiment from an old retired Stampin' Up! set.

Card Stock:
Daffodil Delight:
One piece of 8 1/2 x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" for base.
Cherry Cobbler
One piece of 4" x 5 1/4" for mat and 3 scraps the square mats measuring
1 1/2" x 1 1/2"
Basic White
Two 4" x 5 1/4" for front and inside layers and scraps for 3 mats measuring 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" for card front.  Scraps for stamping images.

Designer Paper:
Day at the Farm 12 x 12 Stampin' Up! (R)

Ink:
Momento Basic Black for Images and sentiments
Cajan Craze, Poppy Parade, Real Red, Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake, Parakeet Party Stampin Blends for coloured images.

Little Dreamers Baby Card - FMS #636

This weeks Freshly Made Sketch by Cecile had me puzzled and unsure of what I could do with it.  However I loved design teams wonderful samples and they eventually inspired me to be a bit more creative.  Here's the sketch:

Here's My Card:

I was going to make a birthday card using my Zany Zoo characters and die cuts, but while I was looking through my scraps I found a piece of designer series paper with white clouds on a pool party background that captured my interest.  I decided to  cut and use this paper for the strips on the card.  From there everything seemed to fall into place and I came up with this baby card:

Supplies Used:

Stamp Sets and Dies:

  • Little Dreamers #161569 for lion and inside panel sentiment
  • Teeny Tiny Wishes #127802 Stampin' Up! Retired for Hello Baby sentiment
  • Little  Dreamers Dies #161578 for the two clouds
Ink:
  • Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Marina Mist (R) for sentiments
  • Stampin' Blends: Crumb Cake Light/Dark, Light Flirty Flamingo, Petal Pink and Lemon Lolly
Card Stock and DSP:
  • Whisper White 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4" for base; a 3 7/8" x 5" piece for the front panel which was dry embossed with the Stars Embossing Folder (R); a 4" x 5 1/4" piece for inside panel and small scraps for the two die cut clouds.
  • Pool Party 4" x 5 1/4" for front panel
  • DSP Patterns Pack 112474 (R) Stampin' Up! - 2 pieces 3 1/4" x 1/2" and 2 pieces 2 1/2" x 1/2" for strips and a 4" x 1" strip for the inside panel.
Embellishments:
  • Iridescent Pearls #158987
  • Tombow Multi Purpose Glue
  • Dimensionals

I was quite please with this card and how quickly it came together once I decided on the supplies I would use.  For me that's always the hardest part.  I was sad to see the Little Dreamer Stamp set and dies retired as they've been my go-to baby baby set, and I always love the results.

Thanks for visiting my site and leave me a comment if you liked this challenge and my end results.
