December 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit

Yesterday was my first stamping day since before Christmas, and it was both productive and enjoyable.  Oh to have quiet time to myself such a blessing!

I received my December Paper Pumpkin kit, right around Christmas but hadn't had a chance to open it yet.  When I did, I was simply blown away! The kit called "All The Best", truly is one of the best kits I've worked on this year, and I'm so happy I ordered it.

Here's what was included in the All The Best December 2023  Paper Pumpkin Kit

The All the Best Paper Pumpkin kit came with enough product to make nine cards.  There were three card designs (three each of three designs), and nine absolutely stunning coordinating envelopes. There were three hand drawn gold embossed floral mats and enough yellow floral pieces to decorate all the cards. The twelve labels were trimmed with gold foil and a package of beautiful blue faceted gem embellishments, a stamp set, a Pebbled Path stampin' spot, glue dots, tear n' tape and an acetate box to hold the finished cards and envelopes.

Before I share the cards I made from this kit, click here to watch the unboxing video from Stampin' Up!

HERE ARE THE CARDS I MADE WITH THIS KIT:

Although the kit contains enough supplies for 9 cards, I was able to make 19 different cards from the supplies provided and some additional materials I had on hand.

I'm terrible at following directions so I just began by taking apart all the embellishments and then I cut the card bases into 5 1/4 x 4" mats. I couldn't bear to cut up the envelopes, as they were so beautiful and compliment the cards so well, but if I had I probably would have had 25 cards or more.  When I ran out of the pretty yellow flower embellishments I did some embossing with gold embossing powder and some plain stamping to create backgrounds for the pieces that were left.

I really enjoyed using the stamp set that came with this kit, especially the sentiments which are perfect for birthday or friendship cards.  Here are the extra materials I used for my cards.

Card Stock:
So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Balmy Blue, Whisper White and Gold Foil and Whisper White Envelopes.

Ink:
Old Olive, Balmy Blue, Daffodil Delight, Momento Black, Versa Mark

Embellishments:
Brass Butterflies, Gold Embossing Powder, Spring Flowers embossing folder (retired).

As a Paper Pumpkin Subscriber I'm able to order a kit refill, which I've already done, so I can make more cards using these beautiful materials.  That is one of the perks of being a subscriber.  If you want to know more about Paper Pumpkin give me a call or drop me an email and I'll answer any questions you have.
Thanks for visiting today and I hope you enjoyed these cards as much as I did making them.

Happy Stamping!

Sweet Sunflowers August Paper Pumpkin Kit

I'm a Paper Pumpkin Subscriber and I have to say I'm thoroughly impressed with the beautiful AUGUST Paper Pumpkin, called Sweet Sunflowers.

This Sweet Sunflowers kit included enough materials to create 9 cards, but I know I'll make far more than that.  To start with it has 3 each of 3 card base designs and nine beautiful coordinating envelopes.  The Sweet Sunflower photopolymer stamp set has sentiments that will express words of gratitude, friendship and greetings and beautiful wildflower designed images.  Also included in the kit are some Vellum honeycomb shape pre-cut pieces and two Classic Stampin’ Spots in Crushed Curry and Soft Suede.  I love collecting the Classic Spots as they are great for stamping on the Stamperatus.  A free set of 8 Gold Foil Honeycomb Sheets came with this month's kit and I know I'm going to have fun dressing up my cards with these glossy accents.

Paper Pumpkin kits always co-ordinate with Stampin' Up!s vast array of coloured products, and this month's kit is no exception.  Here are the colours that will work perfectly with the materials in this kit: Blackberry Bliss, Crushed Curry, Evening Evergreen, Melon Mambo, Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy, Pumpkin Pie, Soft Suede and Cherry Cobbler.

The five cards I've made are my own alternate ideas and I've included the supplies that I used to make them.  I hope you'll enjoy them.

Card Number 1:

For this card I started with a Whisper White Base measuring 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4". Blackberry Bliss mat measures 5 1/4 x 4" and before I adhered it I cut out a large stitched square piece from the center.  The dsp panel measures 3 3/4" x 5" and is cut from one of the kits card bases.

The sentiment is stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink on a smaller stitched square and then layered on the Black Berry bliss square.  A few rhinestones were added along with a leaf image from the stamp set.

Card Number 2:

Essentially this card has the same dimensions and mat sizes as Card Number 1, however the card base is Blackberry Bliss followed by a Mossy Meadow layer.  The dsp layer is simply beautiful in design.

I stamped the sentiment " Wishing You So Much happiness" on Whisper White card stock and then fussy cut all the words.  I love how that turned out.  The flower is one of the vellum accent pieces in the kit and I added three rhinestones for some glimmer.

In the kit you get several bumble bee images that can be mounted on mini dimensionals.  I added two that were flying in the same direction.  So sweet.

Card Number 3:

For this card I started with one of the green card bases from the kit and added this beautiful panel, which I mounted on a blackberry bliss frame.  The ornate label was die cut from the center of the Blackberry Bliss panel along with the stitched circle used for the label in Card 2.  No waste when you die cut elements from your mats.  No one is going to see them once they are covered anyway.

Card Number 4:

The dsp in card number four is actually one of the decorative envelopes cut up and used as the layered mats.  I used the scalloped rectangle die from the Scalloped Contour Die set to cut from the center of this 3 3/4 x 5" mat.  I attached the scalloped mat with dimensionals over the space left when it was cut out.

The card base was cut from Mossy Meadow cardstock and the first mat layer is Calypso Coral.  Loved the contrast it added.  For the sentiment I once again fussy cut the words, but left the phrase "wishing you so much" in tact and mounted it on one of the small blackberry bliss element strips from the kit.  I also added another velum flower and a small piece of the velum honeycomb to the sentiment piece.  Love it!

Card Number 5:

This card is made with another of the beautiful  honeycomb panels which I mounted on a piece of Mossy Meadow card stock.  I cut the card base from Crushed Curry and loved the contrast that provided.  The two flowers are from a recently retired stamp set called Friendly Hello and worked perfectly for adding some more dimension to the card.

Well that's it for today's post.  I have lots more ideas for using up the products in this kit and I hope you've enjoyed what I've shown you so far.  If you don't want to be bothered with having a lot of stamping tools and products kicking around purchasing kits like Paper Pumpkin is really a very simple way of being creative without a lot of material and costs.

Unfortunately Paper Pumpkin kits are always for sale until the 10th of the month, so if you missed out on this kit, you're really out of luck.  My fingers are crossed that they'll offer a "refill" kit, and if so I plan to offer a class.  You won't want to miss that.

If you'd like more information about subscribing to Paper Pumpkin on a monthly or annual basis, please call and I'd be happy to share that with you.  Also I'm planning a Monthly Paper Pumpkin get together starting in September so if you're interested in that call me for the details.

All Paper Pumpkin subscriptions must be completed the 10th of the month to ensure you get the kit for the next month.  Click here to set up a Paper Pumpkin subscription:

Pick of the Crop May Paper Pumpkin Kit

Although you wouldn't know it from our current wet weather trend but summer is on its way.  We live in the "berry belt" of Canada so summer berries and fruit are top on our list.  This year in particular because of the shortage of bees and the wet soggy weather we've had our berry crops are taking longer than usual.  We'll just have to have patience and when they arrive  support our local farmers during this hardship time.  Can't wait!

I also can't wait to get my hands on the May 11 to June 11th "Pick of the Crop" Paper Pumpkin kit.  It looks like it's going to be yummy!

Check it out on my website store by clicking here.
The Pick of the Crop Paper Pumpkin kit is chock full of fun and includes many of my favourite colours and berry themes. This all-inclusive kit includes enough supplies to:

  • create 9 cards with card bases measuring 4-1/4" x 5-1/2"  - you get 3 each of 3 designs
  • 9 printed card bases featuring coordinating colors: Blackberry Bliss, Cajun Craze, Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, Garden Green, Night of Navy, Soft Succulent
  • 9 coordinating envelopes (4-1/2" x 5-3/4" (11.4 x 14.6 cm))
  • Photopolymer Stamp set to express love, gratitude and style.  The sentiments say “Love you a whole bunch”, “You’re the pick of the crop”, “You are the sweetest,” and so many more
  • a selection of die-cut paper pieces including some specialty vellum pieces
  • a Calypso Coral Classic Stampin’ Spot!
  • Adhesive
  • Bonus: This kit includes a canvas mini shopping bag that measures 5 3/8" x 6", which can be used to hold a couple cards for a unique craft element.

Note: Additional bags will be available to purchase separately on my shopping web site.

Just look at this cute little "bonus" canvas bag that's
included in this month's kit!

This kit can only be ordered up until June 10th, so if you're interested in getting it don't hesitate.  Order it now.

WWC66 - Libby's Sketch Challenge

I'm delighted to let you know I was invited to be a "guest" designer on Watercooler Wednesday this week. You won't believe what an honour this was for me. I'm so over the wall inspired by this group of exceptionally talented paper crafters, it was a real thrill to join them.

This week Watercooler Wednesday is featuring a wonderful sketch challenge by the talented Libby Fens who just recently became a permanent member of the design team.  Congrats Libby!

Here's Libby's sketch - WWC66:

Mother's Day is just around the corner so I decided to use this delightful sketch to design a card for my mom.

When she was younger, my mom was an avid gardener who couldn't wait for Spring so she could work in her garden. She planted a variety of fragrant and colourful plants including Pinks, Bachelor's Buttons, Forget-Me-Nots, Cosmos, and Sweet William. What joy she took in those flowers!
Mom really enjoyed her flower garden and I can remember going to the store with her to buy her precious packages of seeds.
I'm hoping this card will bring back some of those memories not only for my mom but for those of you who are flower lovers too.

Here's My Card:

April was a special month for Stampin' Up's Paper Pumpkin as they were celebrating not only their 3rd birthday but also their one millionth sale.  To reward new Paper Pumpkin subscribers they included an extra exclusive photopolymer stamp set called "All About Everything" which I've featured in the two stamped panels on this card.

In this closeup of the large rectangle you can see some of the detail achieved with the two-step stamping method.  This is the perfect stamp set for creating background paper.  The Lovely Lace Embossing folder which will retired later this month, was used to create the beautiful texture on the Pink Pirouette layer.
By stamping off before applying the stamp on the oval you get a softer version of the image that looks like it's been water coloured.  To define the edge around the oval I used a retired paper piercing template to poke the holes on the Pear Pizzazz oval.

I always finish the inside of my cards and the matching envelopes with stamped or embossed images. Here's what the card looks like inside:

The "Happy Mother's Day" sentiment is from the Lovely Little Wreath stamp set which was part of the April 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit.  I really like the lettering and the small flowers on this sentiment.
Supplies:
Stamp Sets:  All About Everything, Lovely Little Wreath (Paper Pumpkin April 2016)
Card Stock:  Pink Pirouette, Pear Pizzazz, Calypso Coral
Ink:  Pink Pirouette, Pear Pizzazz, Calypso Coral
Accessories:  Big Shot, Trimmer, Lovely Lacey EF, Decorative Edge EF, Decorative Dots,

I hope my card has inspired you and that you'll want to take part in this challenge too!  Be sure to enter your project back at the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge (#WWC66). The deadline to post your entry is Monday, May 9th, 2016. Thank you for visiting today.  I can't wait to see what you come up with!
