Peace on Earth Challenge #70
I stopped by the Peace on Earth Challenge blog today to check out their latest mood board and was thoroughly taken with the vintage Christmas inspiration. Here it is:
The images on this mood board remind me of the vintage Christmas cards my mom used to send back in the day. Love them all!For the inside of the card I stamped an image from another old Stampin' Up! stamp set called Winter Memories. I stamped the image of the sleigh and cardinals in full strength Crumb Cake ink and then stamped the sentiment in Cherry Cobbler ink through the center. Again I used a red mat to pull everything together for this layer.
- Sophisticated Sled #164340 (note this is part of the OLE - Online Exclusive product line in 2024/25
- Winter Memories #127937 (R) (sled and wreath inside card)
- Christmas Gleaming #150464 (R) (Merry Christmas sentiment)
Sophisticated Sled - On Line Exclusive Stamp Bundle |
- 8 1/2 x 5 1/2" Whisper White card base scored at 4 1/4"; 3 7/8" x 5" Whisper White mat for inside the card. Scraps of Whisper White for the die cut skates and the Merry Christmas sentiment.
- 4" x 5 1/4" Cherry Cobbler mats for the front and inside of the card; 1 1/2" x 4" piece of Cherry Cobbler for the sled frame and skate laces die cuts.
- Scraps of Garden Green for the two leaf die cuts which I cut in half so I could spread them around the top of the sled and the skates.
- 2 1/2" x 4" piece of Crumb Cake for the sled topper and rail.
- Scrap of silver foil for the skate blades . Tip: I used a scrap of adhesive sheet behind the silver foil before die cutting. When you're working with tiny pieces it's easier to do this to adhere them to your design.
- Cherry Cobbler ink and Cherry Cobbler Blends for colouring bird.
- Crumb Cake
- Momento Black ink for cardinal
- Tombow Glue
- Dimensionals
- Adhesive sheets for skates
- Starform Glitter Dots in Red and Silver

Pool Party Monochromatic Birthday Card - FMS #650
This week's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches was designed by Judy at Jar Full of Joy I wanted to make a monochromatic birthday card using some Stampin' Up! designer series paper and a stamp and die set I hadn't tried out yet, so these three rectangles in the sketch became the perfect layout.

HERE'S MY CARD:
I pulled out an old retired birthday stamp set from Stampin' Up! called Picture Perfect Birthday, to stamp the little party horn to mount on the focal piece. I love those stamps and have never been able to part with them because they add such a fun feeling to a celebration. Coffee With Friends AHSC #591
After an extremely busy week it was fun to sit down and try out this week's
sketch design by Michelle at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. This uncomplicated design was just what I needed, and it didn't take me long to figure out what I wanted to make with it.

HERE'S MY CARD:
One of my guilty pleasures in life is a good cup of coffee and the only thing better is sharing time with a friend over a cup of coffee. I loved the sentiment "this one's on me" and thought it would be the perfect saying on a note card to invite a friend to join me "on the house".
I flipped this sketch sideways and added an additional mat using the Designer Series Paper on the card front. I fussy cut 2 coffee mugs from one of the designer series papers for the focal point popping up the Lost Lagoon colored mug with dimensionals. I also used dimensionals to support the stitched circle and nested it over top of some linen thread that was laid down in a figure eight.SUPPLIES:
Stamp and Die Sets:
- Latte Love #163455 stamp set and
- A Little Latte Dies
Card Stock and Designer Series Paper:
- Whisper White 8 1/2 x 5 1/2" card based scored and folded at 4 1/4". A 3" x 3" piece for stitched circle for focal point

- A Little Latte DSP #163453 for front mat 4" x 5 1/4" and a 2 3/4" x 4 1/4" piece for front mat. 1/4" x 5" strip for inside card. DSP is Calypso Coral with white patterned coffee beans in the design. Two coffee cups were cut for the focal point.

Peace on Earth Challenge #
It's hard making Christmas cards when it's hot outside but having a mood board such as this one from Peace On Earth's #69 sketch challenge really inspired me to get creative. When trying to decide on my winter themed card I was drawn to two of the elements in the mood board. The first was the white horse with the jaunty Santa hat and the second was the white chenille looking trees.

HERE IS MY CARD:
I liked the little pops of red shown in the mood board. I added a layer of Cherry Cobbler cardstock to the card front followed by a piece of Whisper White that I embossed with the Evergreen Forest 3D embossing folder. If I was making this card again, I think I'd spritz the Whisper White layer with water prior to embossing to make the trees a little bolder or emboss a second piece and cut around the trees and then layer them over the base layer of trees with dimensionals.

Bi-Plane Fun Masculine Birthday Card - Freshly Made Sketches #648
Happy Saturday and welcome to my blog. Summer is whizzing by and we continue to have hot dry weather. Some days, I just don't feel like leaving the house or doing anything outside. Today is one of those days, so I'm happily heading to my craft room to get some crafting time in. Join me......
The Abbotsford Airshow is happening this weekend and all day long I can hear the planes roaring overhead. Since planes are on my brain, I thought it would be a great opportunity to use Narelle's sketch #648 from Freshly Made Sketches for today's card. Here's the sketch:

Christmas Classic - Blocking Design #FMS647
Hi Everyone! If you're a BC Resident happy BC Day long weekend! I've been watching the Summer Olympics out of France this past week, and I'm just awed by all the elite athletes representing Canada in the games! How exciting!
I'm also excited to share a card I made this week using the latest Freshly Made Sketches challenge sketch. Karren is the sketch hostess this week at Freshly Made Sketches so a big shout out to her. Her concept for this sketch was "color blocking".

HERE'S MY CARD:
Today's card is another Christmas design using retired products from Stampin' Up! My biggest decision when I started to assemble the pieces was whether I needed a gap between the paper mats or to make them flush. I decided having a white border around and between the paper cuts would tie them together. I also decided to do a landscape mode rather than portrait.
Instead of using a square or rectangle for the focal point on this card I chose to use layered circles. I started with a 2 3/4" Shaded Spruce stitched circle followed by a Whisper White 2 1/4" circle. Because I didn't want to stamp a sentiment or design in the background I cut a 2" circle from patterned paper and used that as a backdrop for the sleigh.
SUPPLIES:
Stamp Sets:
- Window Wishes #159751 (sentiment)
- Christmas Barn #159747 (sleigh)
Cardstock:
- 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" Shaded Spruce scored at 4 1/4" for base. Layout is landscape.
- 3" x 3" scrap of Shaded Spruce for stitched circle
- One 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White for inside panel and a scrap for 2" stitched circle layer and sentiment strip
- Scrap Cherry Cobbler
- Classic Christmas 6 x 6 #155969 (R)
- Classic Label Punch
- Layered Stitched Circle dies
- Dimensionals
- Adhesive Back Sequins Trio - Opaque White #161205
