Here's this weeks great card sketch and challenge from the Paper Craft Crew. Just click on this link to see all the great samples from the design team.
As you know, if you visit my blog frequently, I went through a rough patch in the beginning of the year with illness and dealing with the loss of my little dog Murphy. So many people were so good to me and offered me so much support, I thought I would take this opportunity to make some Thank You cards to express my appreciation.
The background and ribbon colours in the sketch design and the tiny floral pattern on the DSP inspired me to design something Victorian or Vintage for my entry this week.
With that in mind, I went through my stash and found a retired designer paper called Attic Boutique. One of the designer papers that attracted me featured vintage corsets and horns in an array of colours and I knew it would work perfectly with what I had in mind. To go with this paper I
chose the retired stamp set called Rue Des Fleures, which has the same elements and great sentiments.
Here is my card:
|
I stamped the 3 sentiments from the Rue Des Fleures stamp set in Early Espresso Ink directly onto the Attic Boutique Designer Series Paper. But, before stamping the sentiment I inked up the stamps with Versa Mark ink and then Early Espresso ink and then heat set with Early Espresso Embossing Powder. This added a little dimension without making it look too glossy. |
|
I added a vintage dimensional flower from the 5/8" Flower Trim strips. You get 2 yards of these little rosettes in each strip and they're so versatile. I could have left it as is but decided to tie the flower into the colours of the background papers with a little Baja Breeze daubed on the edges. Easy Peasy! I used Crystal Effects to mount the flower onto the card.
The circles and the sentiment layers are popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals to give definition and make the element fit over the ribbon. |
