Happy BC Day Long Weekend to all my customers and friends from the West Coast! The sun is shining and it's going to be an awesome weekend.
Big news today if you're following the Olympics...........Canada won its first Gold Medal!!!!! What excitement as Rosie MacLennan delivers a 57.3 performance and bests the favoured to win Chinese competitors on the trampoline to take this coveted medal. Karen Cockburn her teammate also delivered a stellar performance to come in fourth! Wow it was so awesome we cried!!!!
So what's all that have to do with my post today???
Well to begin I was totally inspired by Rosie's story and performance and her name reminded me of "Primrose Petals".
Secondly, I was planning on making a "Best Wishes" card for a dear friend who's celebrating a milestone birthday this week. She loves hummingbirds and rose pink so I thought why not combine these two things to make a "winning" birthday card. And, here's what I came up with:
The technique I used is called a Triple Time Stamping Technique. One of our great stampers Dawn Olchefske has done a great video tutorial on this technique. Basically this card is pretty straightforward to make and would be a real wow in a class.
1. Cut card base and layers from Primrose Petals and Whisper White card stock in the following dimensions:
Whisper White
2" x 3-1/4"
3" x 4-1/4"
4" x 5-1/4"
Primrose Petals (2012-2014 In-Colour)
2. Using repositioning tape layer the three Whisper White pieces of cardstock one on top of the other keeping equal borders around the edges of each layer.
3. Stamp the sentiment "Best Wishes" from Sincere Salutations (retired) in Basic Black, on the 2 by 3 1/4" layer. Emboss with Clear Embossing Powder and heat set.
4. Stamp the "Swirl" from Elements of Style stampset in Pretty in Pink. Begin at the center and work your way around the three layers. Press hard so the image goes on all three layers evenly.
5. Stamp the "Hummingbird" from the Elements of Style stampset in Primrose Petals ink as many times as you choose, but making sure it is stamped across all three layers of the Whisper White card stock. Note: There will be gaps, but these will be filled in when you mount these pieces to the Primrose Petals layers.
6. Separate the Whisper White Layers and then mount them on the Primrose Petal layers and card base. I mounted the 2" layer to the 3" layer and then added dimensionals to the back of the 3 1/4" Primrose Petals layer before mounting on the 4" Whisper White layer. Make sure that everything is going in the same direction so your bird wings match on all layers.
So that wasn't too hard was it! Hope you enjoyed this mini tutorial on the Triple Time Stamping Technique. Come again.
