Valentine Wishes - AHSC#613

It's hard to believe we are almost into the last week of January already.  It's been a month since Christmas and Valentine's Day is just two weeks and a bit away. Time's flying! Here's this week's sketch challenge by Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #613.

I decided this sketch might work well with the January Hearts To You Paper Pumpkin kit that's been languishing on my desk since it arrived. Although it's a great kit I haven't been motivated to make Valentine Day cards. Being a procrastinator to the fourth degree, I sometimes need a push or an idea to get my creativity going and this sketch with its clean and simple lines was just what I needed.

Here's My Card:

Supplies:

Card Stock:
  • Red striped card base from Paper Pumpkin January 2025 kit
  • Gold Glitter cardstock 5 1/4 x 4" for mat on front.  Punched the hearts out from the center before adhering to card base
  • White Heart Strip from  the kit
  • Scrap of Basic Black for the sentiment

Ink:
  • Real Red for inside sentiment
  • Momento Black
  • Versa Mark Embossing Ink for sentiment
  • Gold Embossing Powder
Accessories:
  • Dimensionals
  • Stampin' Up! Heart Punch (R)
  • Paper Pumpkin Kit - January 2025
  • Basic D cross hatched Embossing Folder for White Hearts
  • Pink Sequins on alternate cards from kit
This is the Hearts to You January Paper Pumpkin Kit Refill

I found the strip of white hearts that was included in the kit to be just too white, so I dry embossed this one with the Cross Hatched Basic 3-D Embossing folder (R) to give it some texture and make it stand out a bit more.  The strip isn't quite wide enough to fit across the 5 1/8" x 4" piece of red cardstock so I cut it and centered the cut part under the two gold hearts.  It worked perfectly and later on you'll see one of these strips that I coloured with Real Red and a blending brush.  It worked perfectly to take the plainness away.  The striped red piece is cut from one of the card fronts.

Once I finished this card, I was inspired to continuing making alternate cards for the Hearts to You Paper Pumpkin kit.  So here are some of the ones I've finished so far.  I think I have enough supplies to make another 7 or 8 cards.

Cheers and thanks for stopping by and checking out my card for this sketch challenge.

Darling Dinos - Anniversary Wishes

Welcome to my blog.  I'm starting off the week by sharing my thoughts on some of the products in Stampin' Ups! new January to April Mini catalogue.  I have two or three favourites and the first I want to tell you about is called Darling Dinos which can be found on page 51 of the mini cattie.  It's Dino-mite!

The Darling Dinos stamp and dies were chosen by Diane Gibbs as a reward for being one of  the latest  Million dollar sellers for Stampin' Up! The Darling Dinos  set which comes in English and French can be purchased separately or as a bundle.  This 25-piece photopolymer stamp set and 16 dies work perfectly with DSP, blending, stand alone or combined with images from other other stamp images and dies.  Colouring these chubby little dinos brings them to life in so many ways that you'll never run out of creative ideas.

I know a lot of folks will  look at this bundle and think yeah that's a cute stamp set for kids projects, but hang on for a minute before you pass it by.  Just think of all the fun possibilities for adult cards with this set - birthdays, anniversaries, retirement and the list goes on.  Click here to see a birthday card I made when I first picked up this set.

So to get your mind thinking in those terms here is an anniversary card I made for my hubby using this set.  But shhhhhhh!!! Our anniversary is this coming weekend and I still want to surprise him.  We've been married for 50+ years and dated for a couple before we tied the knot, so I consider us "dinosaurs" in this day and age.

Here's My "Adult" Dino Anniversary Card:

  • Darling Dinos #164728 - both Dinos and sentiment "I Love You"
  • Paradise Palms #157716 (R) - mountain/and palm tree images

  • Love For You #160398 - sentiment
Ink:
  • Mossy Meadow - mountains, palm tree leaves, grass sprigs
  • Early Espresso Marker for Palm Tree trunks
  • Crumb Cake and Basic Beige for sand and rocks
  • Pecan Pie -sentiments front and inside
Blender Brushes and Ink:
  • Pool Party for sky
  • Crumb Cake and Basic Beige for sand
Blender Pens:
  • Gray Granite light and dark
  • Pumpkin Pie light and dark
  • Pecan Pie light and dark
Cardstock:
  • Crumb Cake for base - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"
  • Mossy Meadow mat - 5 1/4 x 4
  • Pool Party - 5 1/8" x " x 3 7/8"
  • Whisper White 5" x 3 3/4" for front mat and 5 1/4" x 4 for inside panel
  • Real Red - heart for inside
Accessories:
  • Dimensionals
Thanks for dropping by and checking out my "adult" Darling Dinos card.  I hope to post more projects using this set in the coming weeks as I've been having a lot of fun with it.  So stay tuned.  In the meantime, I'd love it if you left me a comment and any fun sayings I could use for various occasions.

Black and White Anniversary - FMS #669

I'm up for another sketch challenge card, how about you?  Narelle Farrugia is the sketch designer for Freshly Made Sketches #669 this week.  And, what a great card she made!

While you're checking out Narelle's and the rest of the FMS Design Team's  designs for this sketch, why not play along.  It's so easy.  Make a card, take a photo and upload it to their site no later than 3pm EST on Monday January 20th, 2025.   If you don't have a blog you can upload to your Facebook Page or Instagram.  Easy peasy!

Here's My Card:

Supplies Used:

Stamps and Dies:

Lifetime of Love #162574 and coordinating dies - Flowers and inside sentiment and die frame.

Love For You #160398 - Sentiment "Happy Anniversary"

Cardstock:

Whisper White:

  • Cardbase 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"
  • Inside Mat 3 7/8" x 5"
  • Scraps for embossed flower images on front
Basic Black:
  • Front Mat - 4" x 5 1/4  Dry Embossed
  • Front Mat - 3" x 4"
  • Inside Mat - 4" x 5 1/4"
Gold Glimmer Paper:
  • Front Mat - 3 1/4" x 4 1/4"

Designer Paper:

Note:  Although I really liked the Mixed Media Florals suite, I really only wanted some floral images I could use quickly and inexpensively.  For $15.95 CDN I was able to purchased the Memories and More Pack, which is totally awesome.   It comes with thirty-six 3" x 4" cards, fourteen 4" x 6" cards and four sticker sheets - 2 each of 2 different designs.

Ink and Embossing Powder:

  • Momento Black
  • Versa Mark
  • Gold Embossing Powder

 Accessories:

  • Layered Florals 3-D Embossing Folder #162395.
I love how the inside of this card turned out.  The arched floral die from the Lifetime of Love dies was perfect for highlighting the beautiful sentiment stamp. Note:  because this die is so frail I used Self-Adhesive paper behind my black cardstock scrap.  It not only made cutting the image easier - all the bits just popped right out, but it also made it easy to adhere to the mat.

Thanks for  dropping by and checking out this week's sketch challenge card.  The hardest part of this card was deciding which floral images I wanted to use and I'm happy that I chose the Lifetime of Love stamps and dies.  I originally only bought this bundle because I loved the dies, but after using the stamps I've decided I love them both.

January 2025 Paper Pumpkin - Hearts to You

I just heard that my January 2025 Paper Pumpkin – Hearts for You kit is on its way and should be here by Friday.  Yippee!!  Can't wait!!

The Hearts for You kit contains:
  • Card bases - 3 each of 3 designs
  • 9 envelopes
  • Heart-shaped pre-cut hearts and stickers in red, pink and champagne foil
  • Heart shaped gem embellishments
  • Red twine

Unfortunately the deadline for purchasing the Hearts For You Paper Pumpkin kit, was January 10th, 2025. But next month's kit called Spring is in the Air is now available from January 11th through February 10th.  And you can still purchase the coordinating die set called "Spring is In the Air Dies", while supplies last.

The five piece coordinating die set called "Spring Is In The Air dies (#166237)" includes a heart frame, flowering chive, honeycomb, and a tiny bumblebee. The great thing about these additional dies is they are designed to work with THREE Paper Pumpkin Kits of 2025: the Hearts for You Paper Pumpkin Kit (January), the Spring Is in the Air Paper Pumpkin Kit (February), and the Daisy Daydream Paper Pumpkin Kit (March).

Hope you come back next week and check out my Hearts for You cards.  I can't wait to get started.

Three Cheers Masculine Birthday Card - #AHSC612

Happy Monday and thanks for checking out my post today. I thought I'd start the week off with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenge created by Michelle and digitized by Brandi. This sketch ends on January 19th, so there's plenty of time to get crafting on it. Hope you'll join in the fun!

Here is My Card:
I'm in dire need of some masculine cards for upcoming birthdays, and this sketch inspired me to pull out my very "manly" retired stamps and dies called Brewed For You.  I'm calling this card "Three Cheers" because of the three beers that are proudly mounted across the front of the card.

Supplies:
Cardstock:
  • 8 1/2 x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" Crumb Cake for Card Base
  • 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" Early Espresso for mat on card front small scrap for sentiment strip mount
  • 5 1/4" x 4" Whisper White for inside mat
  • Scraps Whisper White for three beer jugs and foam
Designer Paper:
  • 5 1/4 x 4" Piece Early Espresso/Crumb Cake dsp from Neutral Pack 2024/25 for mat on card front
  • 1 1/4" x 5" strip Early Espresso design for across center of card front
Ink:
  • Momento Black for stamping sentiments and images
Accessories:
  • Mini Cut and Emboss machine for die cutting beer mugs and foam
  • Dimensionals
  • Nuvo Clear Drops for beer mugs
Well that's it for my post today.  I hope you liked this card.  If you have any questions regarding how it was assembled or about the product used please drop me a line, I'd love to hear your comments and questions.

Cheers and have a great week!

Notes From the Heart - December 2024 Paper Pumpkin Kit

The DECEMBER 2024  PAPER PUMPKIN KIT called "Notes from the Heart" was available for those who subscribed to Paper Pumpkin from November 11th until December 10th, 2024.

My kit arrived in mid December but except for a peek at the contents, I was just too busy getting ready for Christmas to play with it until this past week.

I instantly knew this was a kit I could work with, although I wasn't a fan of the three card suggestions.  I knew that I would have no difficulty adding my own flair and ideas to these card supplies.

The Notes from the Heart kit included nine hand-sketched botanical designs, and enough supplies for 9 card projects.  The supplies included pre-cut vellum leaves, sentiment labels, sparkling gems, white scalloped card bases, nine Mossy Meadow envelopes, Tear N' Tape, Adhesive Dots and a Blackberry Bliss Classic Stampin Spot.

My two favourite things about the kit were the Notes From the Heart photopolymer stamp set and the sentiment labels that were trimmed with gold.  I know I'm going to use this stamp set a lot.

Okay so  enough blathering, here are the cards I made with this kit:
I made nine alternate cards using Basic White, Mossy Meadow, Pretty in Pink and Blackberry Bliss cardstock for bases and mats. Mats dry embossed with  Springtime Print, Basketweave and the 3D Fern Embossing Folders provided some added texture.  The Designer papers used for mats came from Storybook Moments, Timeless Plaid and Subtles DSP paper packs.  A variety of gems were used beyond what was provided in the kit.

The checkered dsp in this card is from the new Timeless Plaid DSP in the January to April Mini.  The embossed background was made with the Springtime Prints Embossed Folder which is retired.  To make the vellum leaves stand out I used a blending brush and Mossy Meadow ink.

If you're interested in trying out a Paper Pumpkin kit or signing up for a subscription click here for additional information.

Thanks for dropping by and taking a look at my card creations.  I hope you enjoyed these cards and if you have a favourite or any questions please let me know.  I'd love to hear from you.
