Masculine Birthday Card

What a busy two weeks I've had decluttering and getting ready for our painter to freshen up our living space.  It's amazing how many collectibles and household goods get stashed away in cupboards, never to see the light of day.  I'm proud of myself as I've managed to box up all my copperware for a Spring garage sale and send off at least four boxes of dishes and Tupperware to some local charities.

Oh and I have to shout out about one of my biggest organizing accomplishments in February.  My husband and I have been procrastinating for quite a while about getting rid of our old Sony TV and cloth recliner.  So, when he brought it up last week again, instead of doing nothing I called 1-800-Got Junk and set up an appointment.  They came the next day and hauled these two items plus our old blinds.  What a relief that was!

Here's this week's sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #618

HERE'S MY CARD:

Time for another masculine birthday card. I need several in the month of March, so this sketch challenge is perfect for using up scraps.  I decided to use some of the paper from the March Hello Spring Paper Pumpkin kit.  The background paper has a small design that has copper in it so that inspired me to make one of the stripes copper foil.

This card got off to a funny start, as I was planning to do a standard top fold A2 card, and then somehow grabbed a 4 1/4 x 11 piece of basic beige by mistake. add to the confusion, thought I had laid my stripes on the bottom of the card and they were actually stuck on the side.  Oh well this is my version of the sketch and I'm sticking with it.

SUPPLIES:

Stamps and Dies:
  • February Paper Pumpkin Kit - Hello Spring paper
  • Stitched circles and Sizzix Nested dies for circle layers
  • "To A Wonderful Friend" and "for you" sentiments from Hello Spring PP stamp set
  • "Happy Birthday" Picture Perfect Birthday #145519 (r)

Cardstock and DSP:
  • Card Base 4 1/4" x 11"  Basic Beige scored at 5 1/2"
  • Scrap Basic Beige for 1/2" circle  for sentiment
  • 2" x 2" scrap Old Olive for circle die cut
  • 3/4" x 5 1/4" strip Copper Foil and 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" scrap for circle
Ink:
  • Copper Clay(r)
Accessories:
  • Dimensionals
I hope you like this card, and will leave me a comment.  I'm interested to know how many masculine cards visitors make during the month.  I always tend to need about four but try to have some extras on hand.  Come back again next week to see the other cards I have made with the March Paper Pumpkin kit.  Cheers!

Thanks so much Sheri. I liked the Copper/green colour combo too. Especially with the basic beige in the background.

Yes sometimes mistakes like that pay off. I was happy with how the card turned out in the end, but never thought to do it that way from the beginning. Glad you liked the sentiments. More stuff cleaned out today, I'm on a roll!
