I just saw the results for the Design Team picks for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #593 and I'm thrilled to say that my card placed in the Top Three (actually four because there was a tie).

Validation like that keeps me coming back for more sketch challenges.  Thanks so much Atlantic Hearts Design Team for all your contributions and hard work to keep this sketch challenge site doing weekly sketches.

Chubby Snowman - FMS#562

The Freshly Made Sketches challenge sketch this week caught my eye so I decided to play along. The "Clean Team" has come up with some really great designs. I was hooked when I saw Linda Callahan's.  So cool!  There's still time to play along so why not check out the details here and join in the fun.

HERE'S MY CARD:
When I began working on this card I was visualizing a Christmas card with a whole different scene.  I was planning on using a wintery background paper and adding a wreath. As it sometimes happens in my craft room I got side tracked while I was looking through my Christmas Station" stash, and decided to use up some very old designer paper and this is the result.

When I spotted this chubby little snowman I decided he'd  be perfect sitting on top of some colourful boxes and that's how this card came about.  Oh and while I was adhering the mats together I had an "oopsy" moment.  I accidentally wound up with the skinnier piece at the top instead of the bottom and I couldn't pull it  off, so go with the flow.

For the card base I cut an 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and then added a 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" mat of More Mustard cardstock. The designer paper was a one-sided flimsy paper, so I cut the red piece to 4" x 5 1/4" and then layered the green piece which measured 1 1/2" x 5 1/4".  I cut a 1/2" by 5 1/4" strip of More Mustard to go across the center.

The three boxes were part of a longer strip so I cut it down to three boxes and centered it below the yellow strip.  I added a tree that I cut from the designer paper and the snowman.  I mounted the snowman on dimensionals and sat him down in the center of the boxes.   I added some small red gems for Christmas sparkle.

For the inside of the card I added a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of More Mustard for the mat and then layered a 3 3/4" x 5" piece of Very Vanilla for the next layer.  I thought a strip of the blocks would cozy up the inside of the card and added the fruit cake for a bit of fun.

Did my card or those of the Clean Team inspire you to try out this sketch challenge?  I hope so.  I'd love to hear from you so drop me a comment

Let It Snow Tag Card - AHSC #593

This week at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge the sketch was designed by Michelle and digitalized by Brandi.  Here it is:

Here's My Card:

I was excited to make this card because I was able to use two of the dies from my new Greetings of the Season Dies and stamps set.  I'm already in love with the large tag die in this set which is the perfect size.  The stitching around the outside edge is very delicate and really gives a nice finished look to the tag.

This Greeting of the Season Stamp and dies are not available in any of the Stampin' Up! catalogues, so don't waste any time looking for them there.  They were just released as part of the Online Exclusives and can only be purchased on line while supplies last.  The photopolymer stamp set has 21 sentiment stamps.  I used the verse "May Your Holiday Season be Filled with Warmth and Cheerful Celebration" on the inside of the card, and it has a beautiful mix of fonts, which I thought was a nice touch.

I was also happy to use the "Let It Snow" stamp from the long retired Merry Little Labels stamp set and coordinating tag punch.  I absolutely love the deer standing in the trees.

Supplies:

Stamps and Dies:

  • Merry Little Labels (R) #144795 - for Let It Snow Tag
  • Perfectly Framed Stamp #151668 - for To and From
  • Greetings of the Season- #164326 - for inside sentiment

    • Greetings of the Season Dies #164112 for Stitched Labels

    Cardstock and DSP:

    • Whisper White 8 1/2 x 5 1/2" for card base scored at 4 1/4", inside mat 4" x 5 1/4"
    • Brushed Gold Foil - 4" x 5 1/4" for card front mat and 3" x 4" for gold gift tag
    • Basic Black 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" for card front mat, scrap piece for tag layer
    • 3 3/4" x 5" Christmas DSP by Stampin Up Retired

    Ink:

    • Momento Tuxedo Black

    Accessories:

    • Gold 1/8" ribbon #134583
    • Dimensionals

Thanks for dropping by and checking out my card for the challenge.  That's one more towards my Christmas stash, and it's reminded me to get busy making gift tags.  Until next time...........

    Winter Meadow - FMS #651

Hi everyone.  Thanks for dropping by and checking out my cards this week.   This sketch challenge by by Amy at Freshly Made Sketches  caught my eye, and I thought I'd give it a go.  There are so many things you could actually do with this challenge.  Remember the shapes like the oval in a sketch challenge can be swapped out (any shape) so if ovals aren't your thing you have the option to change the image to something else.

    Here Is My Card:

I really like the designer papers in the Winter Meadow pack.  The colours are so beautiful.  Originally I was going to use Lost Lagoon cardstock for my card base and  accessories, however I'm still working on cleaning up my stash so wound up using a card base I had on hand that is in a retired color called Tranquil Tide.  It matched in with the paper pretty well.

I've had a lot of fun with the Sophisticated Sled dies and stamp set and have made several cards with the sled as the focal point.  For my version of the challenge, the sled represents the oval in the sketch.

    Supplies:

    Stamp Set(s):
    • Sophisticated Sled - #164340 Online Exclusive
    • Christmas Gleaming - sentiment #150464 (R)
    • One Horse Open Sleigh # 162119 - sentiment inside mat
    • Winter Memories #127937 (R) - skates on inside mat
Card Stock and Designer Series Paper:
    • Tranquil Tide 8 1/2 " x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" for base; scraps for skate laces and for the greenery
    • Early Espresso 4" x 5 1/4" for mat on card front and scrap for sled rail
    • Gray Granite for sled slats
    • Whisper White scrap for the ice skates and sentiment base
    • Winter Meadow DSP #162133 for mat
    • Scrap of striped dsp from unknown paper source

    Ink:
    • Tranquil Tide for sentiment
    • Gray Granite - skates on inside panel mat
    Accessories:
    • Starform Black/Silver Glitter stickers
    • Starform Glitter  Silver/Gold strips
    • Dimensionals

Thank you for dropping by.  If you liked this card let me know, I always appreciate your comments.

    September Hostess Code

     Welcome to September!

It's hard to believe that summer is coming to an end and fall has arrived! All the August specials have come to an end and we have a new Holiday Mini catalogue launching on  September 6th.  So exciting!

Here is the new Hostess Code for September:

Every paper crafter needs stuff, but not everyone can afford to place orders over $200 or host workshops to accumulate sales, so offering my monthly hostess code for smaller orders, is my way of saying "thanks for supporting my business".

If you're planning on placing an September  order valued from $60 to $199.00 (before shipping and tax) just add my September Hostess Code #GHE9UBMR at the end of your order to receive a small token of my appreciation and a thank you card.

The benefits of shopping at my online store and adding my monthly Hostess Code are:

    • You never have to go to a workshop or party.
    • If you need help with your product choices I'm always here to help.
    • You get to decide when to place your order and my online store is available 24/7.
    • You can order online exclusive products that aren't found in the catalogues.
    • Your new products are shipped directly to your front door and generally arrive within 5-7 days of placing your online order.
    • After you've placed your order and applied the current hostess code you'll receive a free surprise gift from me and thank you card generally within 2-3 weeks.

    HERE'S HOW IT WORKS

If you don't already have an online Stampin' Up! account with me, you'll need to set one up.  It's fast and easy.  Locate the "shopping cart symbol" in the top right hand menu line on my web page.  It looks like this:

Before you finalize your Shopping Cart order at the checkout you must add my hostess code for the month into the circled area marked "ADD HOSTESS CODE" (see blue circled area in above snapshot).  Please note:  I can no longer add the hostess code for shoppers after their order has been submitted.  So remember, if you haven't added the current month's hostess code to your order before hitting the checkout button, it won't qualify for my free gift.

Stampin' Rewards:  If your order is over $200 you'll automatically receive Stampin' Rewards at the checkout based on your order total and will be prompted to enter products adding up to the qualifying amount.

NOTE: My September Hostess Code promo closes at noon on Monday September 30th, 2024.   Your free gift and thank you card will be sent to you by the 2nd week in October.  Thank you.

    Sympathy Card - TSOT #653

Thanks for visiting my blog today.  When I first looked at this sketch challenge  at the Try Stamping on Tuesday site it really put me off.  I'm not a fan of the colours used on the sketch and wasn't planning on doing anything with it.  But then I took another look at it today, and decided if I ignored the blue and orange and just concentrated on the design elements then I could probably come up with something.

    HERE'S MY CARD:

A friend lost her mom earlier this week to cancer, and I wanted to send a sympathy card to let the family know how much we cared.   Here's what I came up with using this sketch.

    SUPPLIES:

    Stamp Sets and Dies:
    • Country Flowers by Stampin' Up! #163405 for the sentiments and the floral  image.
    • Classic Cloche (R) #156355 for the bird
    • Encircled in Nature dies  by Stampin' Up! for the Floral sprigs
    Card Stock and Designer Paper:
    • Misty Moonlight card base measuring 8 1/2" x 5 12" scored at 4 1/4".
    • Whisper White for inside mat 5 1/4" x 4", a 3" x 3" scrap of Whisper White for the Oval and sentiment  "sending love".
    • Moody Mauve mat for card front 5 3/8" x 41/8"
    • Winter Meadow designer series paper for the layered mat.  4" x 5 1/4" piece of double sided DSP.  Cut the dsp mat in half and flip one side of the pattern to the front.  Mat measures 2" x 5 1/4".
    Ink and Blends:
    • Momento Tuxedo Black for bird and floral images
    • Misty Moonlight for sentiments and stencilling
    • Lost Lagoon, Pretty Peacock, Moody Mauve, Seaside Spray (R) stamping blends to colour birds,
    Accessories:
    • Foursquare Decorative Mask #161285 (R)for stencilling on focal piece
    • Adhesive Backed Sequins #161206

Making sympathy cards is not something I enjoy doing, because of the sadness that surrounds them.  But I must say this sympathy card seemed to come together easily and I found the colour mix and the design of the papers to be quite soothing.

I really enjoy the stamps in the Country Flowers Stamp set which I used to stamp both the flowers and the sentiments.  The oval had just too much white space on it so before stamping the sentiment I placed one of the Foursquare Decorative Masks over the oval and applied some Misty Moonlight ink with a blending brush.  The flowers were coloured with blends and I added some iridescent sequins around them to give just a hint of sparkle.

    Thanks for stopping by.
