I Won, I Won and I'm so Excited..........

Everyone loves a mystery and I’m no exception. Last week Jenn Picard a member of our Colourful Impressions group posted an invitation on the CI site to check out her blog called A New Ink on Life (http://anewinkonlife.typepad.com) and learn her exciting BIG NEWS about being asked to participate in something real special. Well this intrigued me and so I looked up her site and had a ball checking out her new posts and answering her daily questions related to Stampin’ Up. And tonight it paid off………………drum roll please…………

And The Winner is............
“PENNY HANUSZAK. Penny’s name was randomly drawn from the 55 comments left and she wins A FREE PASS to USTAMP!!! Congratulations Penny, please email me your information so I can make sure you receive your free pass in July.” From Jenn’s post May 28, 2009.

And now for Jenn’s EXCITING NEWS. Well after participating for 4 USTAMP seasons, Jenn has been asked to be the Creative Crew Girl Member from Canada on the USTAMP with Dawn and Friends team of extremely talented Stampin' Up demonstrators! All Occasion Card Classes

How do you say Happy Birthday? Here is a quick card that uses some simple elements but looks classy. Since I am a big fan of Pink Pirouette, Close to Cocoa and Chocolate Chip cardstock and inks, Candy Lane (113980) Designer Series Paper (DSP) has become one of my favorite designs from the Spring Summer 2009 catalogue. So much so, that I'm going to take advantage of the current Designer Paper Sale to stock up on it before it's gone forever. Although I first used it for Valentines Day cards and projects, I soon discovered that it works well for any occasion. This card sample is one of the designs I will be using in my May and June All Occasion Card Classes. Check out my Events Calendar on my Stampin Up Website for dates and details.
Happy Stampin!

Gift Envelope and Gift Card 1st Communion

Today was my niece Francesca's 1st communion. I wanted to make her something pretty and give her a gift to treasure for a long time. The gift part was easy. Many years ago my father had given me a lovely gold chain necklace with a drop pearl in a golden shell. I always loved it and wanted to pass it along to someone in the family. What better time than now. I thought it would be perfect for Francesca as her mom was very close to my dad when she was growing up, and this would give Francesca something her great grandfather had chosen to give with love.

I decided to make an envelope card from a No. 10 envelope, and cut it to 5.5 inches long and then used my Fiskcars scallop punch to add a nice edge to the card. Next I cut two 4 3/4 by 3 7/8 pieces of Pretty in Pink and embossed them with the Big Shot Swiss dot textured plate. these pieces were glued to the front and back of the envelope. I layered a 3 7/8 by 2 3/4 piece of whisper white with a 3 7/8 x 2 1/2 piece of Pretty in Pink DSP. Before gluing these to the front panel I added a 1/2 inch strip of satin embossed white ribbon. I cut a Whisper White circle using the 1 3/4" circle punch, a 1 3/8 circle of Pretty in Pink and a 1 1/4 circle of Whisper White for my sentiment. Using black craft ink I stamped the sentiment from the Best Yet Hostess Set (Winter 2008) on the whisper white card stock. All three circles were mounted with demensionals to give them depth. I used the Crop-A-Dile to punch two holes in the front and back of the envelope and set silver eyelets for the satin embossed ribbon handles.

For the inside card and gift holder I layered Whisper White on Pretty In Pink card stock and stamped the sentiment "a little Something for you" from the Yummy Sale-a-bration set on the Whisper White card stock. I punched a 1 1/4 inch circle in Pretty in Pink for the top of the card and used the crop-a-dile to punch and set a silver eyelet in the top then tied a piece of white satin ribbon through the eyelet. To complete the gift I cut a 2 7/8 by 3" piece of Pretty in Pink card stock and punched two small holes about a 1.4" from the top of the card. I ran the chain for the necklace through the two holes. I wanted to add some pizzaz to this card so I made a little purse using the round tab, small and large ovals and the 1.1/4 in punches. I put a little pearl on the front of the purse and then glued the purse to the card stock with dimensionals. This little gift card was placed in a 3" glassine envelope and taped to the back of the larger gift card.

Missing in Action

Sadly it's been a long time since my last post. My dh and I returned to Abbotsford the beginning of April and have been settling in and getting in touch with everyone we dearly missed through the winter. For those of you who know my mom, she celebrated her 87th birthday on April 4th. She's doing well and keeping active. The whole family got together for Mother's Day at our place and she thoroughly enjoyed it. No one had a camera on hand so there aren't any pictures, just the fond memories of the day.

I haven't had much time for card making or scrapbooking as I returned to work for three weeks as a casual covering off a wedding leave. It was a lot of fun but I'm glad to be back home again and planning on getting more creative. I've booked the following card classes for May and June:

May 27th 6-9pm All Occasion Card Class - 5 Cards $15.00 class fee

June 3rd 6-9pm Tart and Tangy Card Class - Cards and Gift box. $15.00 class fee and anyone wishing to buy the Tart and Tangy Stamp Set should order from me by May 27th ($15.50 plus s&h).
