Gift Envelope and Gift Card 1st Communion

Today was my niece Francesca's 1st communion. I wanted to make her something pretty and give her a gift to treasure for a long time. The gift part was easy. Many years ago my father had given me a lovely gold chain necklace with a drop pearl in a golden shell. I always loved it and wanted to pass it along to someone in the family. What better time than now. I thought it would be perfect for Francesca as her mom was very close to my dad when she was growing up, and this would give Francesca something her great grandfather had chosen to give with love.

I decided to make an envelope card from a No. 10 envelope, and cut it to 5.5 inches long and then used my Fiskcars scallop punch to add a nice edge to the card. Next I cut two 4 3/4 by 3 7/8 pieces of Pretty in Pink and embossed them with the Big Shot Swiss dot textured plate. these pieces were glued to the front and back of the envelope. I layered a 3 7/8 by 2 3/4 piece of whisper white with a 3 7/8 x 2 1/2 piece of Pretty in Pink DSP. Before gluing these to the front panel I added a 1/2 inch strip of satin embossed white ribbon. I cut a Whisper White circle using the 1 3/4" circle punch, a 1 3/8 circle of Pretty in Pink and a 1 1/4 circle of Whisper White for my sentiment. Using black craft ink I stamped the sentiment from the Best Yet Hostess Set (Winter 2008) on the whisper white card stock. All three circles were mounted with demensionals to give them depth. I used the Crop-A-Dile to punch two holes in the front and back of the envelope and set silver eyelets for the satin embossed ribbon handles.

For the inside card and gift holder I layered Whisper White on Pretty In Pink card stock and stamped the sentiment "a little Something for you" from the Yummy Sale-a-bration set on the Whisper White card stock. I punched a 1 1/4 inch circle in Pretty in Pink for the top of the card and used the crop-a-dile to punch and set a silver eyelet in the top then tied a piece of white satin ribbon through the eyelet. To complete the gift I cut a 2 7/8 by 3" piece of Pretty in Pink card stock and punched two small holes about a 1.4" from the top of the card. I ran the chain for the necklace through the two holes. I wanted to add some pizzaz to this card so I made a little purse using the round tab, small and large ovals and the 1.1/4 in punches. I put a little pearl on the front of the purse and then glued the purse to the card stock with dimensionals. This little gift card was placed in a 3" glassine envelope and taped to the back of the larger gift card.
