Friend Swap

In February I had the pleasure of doing a swap with Sheri and Anett two of my great stamping friends.  The theme for the card swap was "Any or All Occasion" and was for two full cards inside and out and envelopes.

For my cards I used the Vintage Vogue Stamp Set which I truly love.  The images were stamped in Chocolate Chip ink on Whisper White and mounted in various layers in Crushed Curry and Chocolate Chip on the "Happy Birthday" card and Melon Mambo, Whisper White and Chocolate Chip for the bottom "Friend" card.  Here's a glimpse at the insides of both cards.  I've really been having a lot of fun with layering flowers and for the Melon Mambo card layer flowers and then added brads for the centers.  The Crushed Curry card has a 3-layered flower punched with the new large flower punch.

Tribute to a Good Friend

It's taken me a little while to get around to posting on my blog, as I've had an up and down couple of months in this new year.  But I'm getting back into the swing again now and wanted to share something very important to me.

Sometimes you have the pleasure of meeting and getting to know someone who lives larger than life and experiences all the world has to offer.  I was so fortunate to have had that experience and able to call this little gal one of my good friends.

Gerry and her precious baby dog Crystal lived in our park in Palm Springs, and many is the evening we sat on her porch enjoying the sunset and chatting.  Gerry loved life to the fullest! She was one of those salty old gals who could shock the pants off a sailor, and yet be sweet and gentle to those she knew best. She was truly genuine.  She loved people and was often the life of the party enjoying dancing and a good stiff drink of vodka and orange.  Gerry was always there to help out and lend a hand for those who needed more. Gerry lost her battle with pancreatic cancer in late January, just before her 72nd birthday.  I was so fortunate to have been able to be share her magic right to the end and will always think of her with a smile and remember her many fabulous stories.  Goodbye Gerry till we meet again.
