Do you like to wrap presents or give your gifts in special fancy gift bags? I'm a fan of bags and tissue paper, and I used to buy all mine at the Dollar Store. One day it occurred to me that why buy bags when I have so many craft supplies right at my finger tips. What fun and no more running to the store at the last minute to get a bag.
When I'm stamping and creating, I always have elements and cut paper on hand in my craft room so I've devoted a gift bag drawer especially for special occasions like birthdays, weddings, get well, graduation time, and thank yous. I also keep plain gift bags I've purchased on sale or rescued from the good will store. You know the motto, "be prepared" well that fits me to a tee.
As an example, here's a gift bag and tag set I recently made for a friend as a way of thanking her for a very special deed. Since my friend is an avid gardener and really loves Spring flowers I decided to use my new Pansy Petals bundle to create the perfect gift bag and tag for her and the bag was filled with fun stuff like gardening gloves, seed packages, plant stake ties and markers and a special trimmer she had her eye on. What fun!
Creating your own bag fronts and coordinating tags is also a great way to use up your retired paper and card stock stash..... just sayin'

Meadow Moments Embossing Folders work like a charm with the Mini Cut N' Emboss Machine my new desk top fun machine. |
Cut layers and adhere with Tombo Adhesive. I cut the topper using the Curvy die set. You need to start with a larger piece of cardstock before you cut with the Curvy die and then I mbossed it with the Meadow Moments Embossing Folder.
- Cut one tag from Fresh Fresia card stock and one from Basic White using the Tag Topper Punch
- Before layering the gift tags together trim 1/16th of an inch off all three sides of the Basic White tag.
- Cut a strip of Blackberry Bliss and emboss with Meadow Moments embossing folder. Glue to bottom of the Basic White tag.
- Add two pansies and three leaves with Tombo and Dimensionals.
- Stamp the "thank you" from the Pansy Patch stamp set in Blackberry Bliss
- Add 3 Basic Pearls that have been coloured with alcohol marker.
- I used Iridescent Ice Stickles around the flower centers to add some dazzle.
- Tie to bag with a coordinating ribbon and thick white Butcher cord.
When I gave this bag and tag to my mom on Mother's Day she was overwhelmed and happy with the bag. It took her a long time to actually open it to look at the present inside. She asked me to hang on to this set and I'm glad I did as I have fond memories of that day. This bag and tag sits proudly on my display shelf in my craft room and I'll display it on Mother's Day from now on as a reminder of the joy it brought to my special mom.
