It's All About the Suit!

When I opened Stampin' Ups! January to June Mini Catalogue way back in January, I was thrilled to see the Well Suited Suite Collection on pages 66 and 67.

I knew this stamp set and coordinating products would be a perfect addition to my collection of masculine card making tools, so I purchased the whole suite which includes the Handsomely Suited cling stamp set, the Suit and Tie Dies and Well Suited Designer Series Paper and Twine.

I wasn't disappointed when my order arrived, because I know this well coordinated suite is going to be perfect for Father's Day cards, masculine birthday cards, scrapbook pages and more, for a long time to come.

Here are a couple of cards that I made:

The addition of the stitching on the plaquet and the pocket really makes these details stand out. I chose to just die cut the Bow Tie without first stamping it on to the designer paper and I think it looks okay.  Next time I'll do the stamping and cutting, and see which one I prefer.  To give the Bow Tie some height over the collar, I popped it up with Dimensionals.

Both the Bow Tie and Long Tie can be assembled easily and are very attractive on their own for dressing the front or inside of the card.  I love the large size and the variety of DSP in the

I'm totally in love with this Handsomely Suited Stamp set and Coordinating Dies.  This navy blue suite really shows off the plaquet on the crisp Whisper White shirt.  I actually scored the suit part working along every 1" from the center of the card to the left and right side of the cardstock to give some definition to the suiting.  I scored the pocket to correspond.  The two little points on the handkerchief were made when I cut two pointy ends on the long tie with the dies and then overlapped the dsp to look like the double tips on a hanky.  Not complicated to do and it adds such a fun touch to the suit front.

My husband used to have a suit back in the day that was just like this one.  His favourite tie to go with it was in shades of Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape and Black.  This brings back fond memories.  With this suite card I fluffed up the edges of the lapels and the shirt collar a bit to make it look more realistic. I also chose to colour in the neck part with an Ivory Stampin' Blend marker after seeing France Martin doing that on one of her posts.  I think it adds a touch of realism to the card.

I kept the inside of this card plain and it has a real masculine feeling to it.  I've added a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of Basic Grey cardstock for the layer and the Whisper White layer measures 5" x 3 3/4".

The small rectangle in the die set is for the pocket edge and it can be used on it's own like this example, or it can actually be popped up on the pocket die cut to give a bit more dimension.  I've cut the hanky out with the pocket die and trimmed it down so it looks like it's coming out of the suit pocket for this example

Well that's all I have to share with you today.  I hope you like these "handsome suits".  I haven't finished playing with this set yet, I know there's so much more that can be done with it.  If you'd like to see more cards in different variations,
leave me a comment following this post.  I'd love to hear from you.
