Tasteful Touches - Feathers

Hi everyone I hope you had a terrific weekend and were able to get out and about.  I managed to squeeze in some crafting time and make some thank you cards using one of my new stamp sets, Tasteful Touches which I featured here and here in my recent sneak peeks.

My first card is an elegant "thank you" designed in black and white that combines the feathers and greenery from Tasteful Touches stamp set with die cuts from Painted Labels Dies.  Its quite a feminine card and the card itself was designed around the cluster of feathers.

Tasteful Touches Stamp Set Item #152562
This card starts with a Basic Black card stock base measuring 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and is scored at 4 1/4".  I added a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White that was embossed with the new Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.

I wish you could see and feel the texture and deep impression created with this new embossing folder.  It's amazing and it totally changes the look of the white space on this card.
The next two layers are a 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" piece of Basic Black layered with a 3"x 3" piece of Whisper White that's been cut out with the largest square die from Stitched Shapes Dies.

The black circle base for the feather design and the three silver glimmer paper leaves were cut using Painted Labels dies.  The silver and black flowers were cut with the Poppy Moments Dies.

Poppy Moments Dies have a great selection of centers and leaves.
I stamped two feathers and one cluster of leaves with Momento Black ink and fussy cut each of the images.  I fiddled a bit with the composition of this cluster before it came together, but when it did, I was very pleased with how it turned out.  I've used mini and regular sized dimensionals and glue dots to hold it together.  The sentiment "Sending Many Thanks" is from a retired Stampin' Up! stamp set called Petite Pairs and it's stamped on Whisper White and was cut out with the smallest circle in the Stitched Shapes dies, and then mounted on a piece of black card stock punched out with the scalloped circle punch.
For the inside of the card I cut a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of Whisper White card stock and stamped a sentiment from Rooted in Nature.  In the bottom right corner I stamped some of the small square clusters and the feather.

My second card has a much more masculine feel to it.  My concept when I started to make this card was to layer some Whisper White rectangles that had been stamped with the feather stamp and this is what I came up with.

I was very pleased with the layout of the rectangles and how they really show case the feathers.  The card base is a standard 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" Whisper White with a side score at 4 1/4".  I've layered a 5 1/4
x 4" piece of Basic Black, followed by a 3 3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White that was embossed with the Textured Textile Embossing Folder.

The large rectangle with the multi-stamped feathers has a Basic Black Base measuring 2 1/4" x 4 1/4" and a Whisper White layer measuring 2" x 4".  The smaller rectangle has a black base measuring  2" x 2 3/4" with a Whisper White layer measuring 1 3/4" x 2 1/2".   The sentiment from Petite Pairs is stamped on the small circle from Stitched Shapes dies and I've added the square stamp image stamped off.  Some Clear Epoxy Droplets were added.

For the inside of the card I used a Basic Black Base measuring 4" x 5 1/4" followed by a 3 3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White card stock.  I stamped the sentiment "Words are Never Enough" from the Rooted in Nature stamp set and a single feather in the bottom corner.

Rooted in Nature is a very versatile stamp set and includes wonderful sentiments.  I like the fonts and size of the sentiments as well as the words and the images are outstanding.

Well that's my post for today.  I'm really enjoying the Tasteful Touches Bundle. My next project with this set will include the actual Tasteful Labels die cuts and some of the sentiments from this set.  I hope you'll come back and see those projects too.

Tasteful Touches Coming Soon

Hi and thanks so much for stopping by.  Quick post today as I just want to share a card I made with my new Tasteful Touches stamp set.

I wanted a "hello" card to send to a friend during the COVID-19 that was soft and feminine.

I began with a So Saffron base and then layered up with Flirty Flamingo, Basic Black and Whisper White card stocks.

When I created my background piece I began with a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Whisper White card stock.  From this base I was able to cut several different pieces.  The layer used on this card measured 3 3/4" x 5" and the sentiment label was cut out with the 2" Stitched Circle die.  I sponged the edges with Flirty Flamingo ink and then blended with a sponge dauber and So Saffron ink to blur the images around the edges.

I inked up the floral stamp with So Saffron ink and then loaded a Sponge Dauber with Flirty Flamingo ink and daubed around the edges of the flower to add some different levels of shading.  While stamping I varied the intensity of the colour going with full colour or stamping off the colour as I went.

My idea was to stamp the flower image around the left side of the card and then randomly stamp the leaves and squares to create a background.  The leaves were stamped in varying shades of Flirty Flamingo and the squares which I love were stamped in Crumb Cake ink.

When I stamped the flowers along the card edge, I simple masked off the stamped flowers as I moved up the length of the card stock. I use Post It Notes to make my masks and I find if I'm careful handling the masks they can be used again.  I store my masks inside the stamp case so they are always ready to use on other projects.

Don't you just love the large font used for this "Just Saying Hello" sentiment?

It's different and looks like I just wrote it in black ink.  I think it worked well in setting the tone of this card.

I cut the coordinating circle layers with dies from Stitched Shapes  and
Layering Circles Dies .
Layering Circles  is a great die set for nesting layers.  It has 16 circle dies. I love having this set of dies in my collection.

Stitched Shapes a 12 piece die set that has Ovals, Circles and Squares.  Love it!

Sequins are super easy to add when you use Stampin' Ups! Take Your Pick tool and Mini Glue DotsThe Mini Glue dots really make them stay in place and let's face it sequins add a warm shimmer and a small pop of shine to the face of the card.

The Tasteful Touches stamp set is part of a new suite called In Good Taste.  Look for it in Stampin' Ups! new Annual Catalogue which will be available on June 3rd.  I know you'll love it too.

Stampin' Up! Sneak Peek...... Tasteful Touches

Hi everyone.  May is flying by and there's only ten more sleeps before the much anticipated launch of Stampin'Up!s 2020/21 Annual Catalogue on June 3rd.

One of the perks of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator is you get to purchase catalogue items early on a pre-order basis.  So while the clock is ticking down I thought I'd share a sneak peek at one of the new stamp sets I ordered from the new catalogue.

This red rubber cling stamp set, called Tasteful Touches, is part of a larger suite called In Good Taste.  I purchased the stamp set and it's coordinating Tasteful Labels Dies as a Bundle.

As soon as I looked at this set I fell in love with the flower image and was excited to use it to create this Anniversary card for a friend who's silver anniversary is coming up.

She wanted something romantic and soft so I used a combination of Blushing Bride,Smokey Slate, Whisper White and Basic Black card stock to create this card.  I also used some silver foil for a layer and a label and incorporated some silver embossing.

For the card base, I began with an 8 1/2"  x 5 1/2" Blushing Bride card base.  I stamped the leaf design from Tasteful Touches with Versa Mark ink around the edges of the card front, sprinkled it with Silver Embossing Powder and heat set the design.
I'm very frugal when using specialty foils and designer papers, so to make the most of them I cut out die cuts from areas that won't be seen once the layers are stacked.
For this card I used the Stitched Rectangle dies to cut out the Smokey Slate and Silver Foil layers.  I also cut out the 1" x 3 1/4" Basic Black layer for the sentiment from the bottom Basic Black layer.

I used the two large die cuts for my layers and the smaller banner die cut will be used for another project down the line.  Both the banner and the label are from the Tasteful Label Dies.

Here you can see all the layers added to the finished card.  I cut out the decorative edge die cut in Blushing Bride using a die from the Painted Labels Dies.  Oh my.  This little edge fit beautifully on the left hand side of the sentiment layer.  Beneath that I added the silver foil label and some leaves die cut in Blushing Bride from the Poppy Moments Die set.  The silver detail on the leaves was added with a Versa Marker Pen and Silver Embossing Powder.

I love the verse from the Tasteful Touches stamp set.  It's so meaningful.  Although I chose to use a Stitched rectangle die to cut out the sentiment after I embossed it on the Basic Black card stock, there actually is one of the dies in the Tasteful Labels dies that fits perfectly with this particular sentiment.

I fussy cut the two rose images after stamping them in Smokey Slate ink on Blushing Bride card stock.  I used the Versa Mark Pen to add some dots to the centers of the flowers and to the petals before heat embossing them with Silver Embossing Powder.  These flowers were popped up with Dimensionals and some silver thread was layered beneath them.

For the floral Smokey Slate layer I started off with a 4 x 5 1/4" piece of Smokey Slate card stock.  I stamped two of the floral image on post it notes and fussy cut these for masks, then I randomly stamped the floral image on this piece using the masks when needed.  I used Smokey Slate ink and the flowers show all the beautiful details for a great back ground paper.

I used the masks again to stamp multiple flowers in the lower right hand corner of the inside panel in Smokey Slate ink and then added some leaf sprays in Blushing Bride to finish off .  The Happy Anniversary sentiment stamped in Smokey Slate is from a retired Stampin' Up! set

Once the card was completed I stamped a Stampin' Up! Whisper White envelope with the floral image.  Just couldn't get enough of that stamp image.  It's simply beautiful and so detailed.
I hope you enjoyed my card today.  I really enjoyed making it and I know my friend will be happy with how it turned out.

Be sure to check out the In Good Taste Suite when the catalogue goes live on June 3rd.  It's sure to be a favourite.  Although I've only showcased a few of the images from the stamp set everyone of the 9 rubber stamps are awesome.

Happy Stamping!
